The Long Awaited Return of NYFW 21

The anticipation of Spring/ Summer 2022 Fashion Week has left many very eager to see what designers will showcase this year. The return of live shows during the midst of the Covid Era has been extremely challenging but made possible while following CDC guidelines. As the week comes to a close we must discuss the current trends, ensembles, and color schemes seen in these shows. Designers like Yvette Crocker, Elier Aubret, Jeremy Scott and ModMara understood the assignment this year. Throughout these shows you saw beautiful silhouettes and bright colors that you didn’t know you needed in your closet.

Puerto Rican designer Elier Aubret had a major comeback this year as he hosted a phenomenal fashion show held in the Prince George ballroom. For 20 years he has been setting runways ablaze with his unique but classic designs. And he definitely did not come to play with his vibrant ready-to-wear runway looks this season.

During this week’s Forever 21 NYFW Show many came out to see the new looks and pieces for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2022 collection. The runway was adorned by the newest arrivals of dresses but unfortunately, for the return of New York Fashion Week the newest arrivals did not excite the crowd as anticipated beforehand. Due to some technical difficulties, the crowd seemed to draw-back from the event, losing slight interest in the show and performances. Various guests I approached expressed the looks as being “bland”, “simple”, and “a repetition of seasons before”.

Here are some photos to recap designs from NYFW this year:
